March 2009 Newsletter
For those of you who have been affected by the recession, remember, this
WILL NOT last forever and we WILL all all get through it.
This month we are focussing on making sure you are as attractive as you can be to
future employers. A good CV is your Entry Ticket to the to the playing
field.
Prepare a one or two page CV (contact us if you would like examples emailed to
you). Job title, company name and the dates (these are the one thing we can
check and must be accurate - do not lie on your CV.Cut down
on the prose; definitely a case of less is more, so it can be read in seconds
and an immediate overview grasped.
If you are applying for a specific job, write a covering letter outlining why you
are a suitable candidate and specify why you are perfect for the job - again
briefly but succinctly. Stick to the facts.Having created the most beautiful
CV, put it on relevant job boards, look at the website of companies you admire
and apply direct, read the newspapers on-line +++.Additionally you could write
to people who are doing well/starting new businesses, who you hear about on the
news and say that you are impressed with what they are doing and would like to
contribute to their growth.
The market is competitive, jobs are scarce, BUT there are people still
recruiting. You need to think out of the box and be more resourceful if your
usual sources are not working for you. You will find a job.
If you are unemployed and finding the job market tough to crack I am sure that
some days you might find it hard staying positive. If you need motivation, read
or watch The Secret.
Do remember THINGS WILL GET BETTERETTER.
